RECEWAPEC Expands Global Influence with UN ECOSOC Consultative Status

Following our official accreditation with UN ECOSOC Consultative Status, RECEWAPEC expands its international diplomatic presence. This status grants us the mandate to appoint five International Representatives at every United Nations Headquarters worldwide.

To ensure our grassroots mission remains at the heart of our global advocacy, two representatives from the RECEWAPEC National Office in Cameroon will lead these delegations. This strategic bridge between Cameroon and the UN ensures that the voices of our community are heard directly in the halls of global decision-making.

As an organization with UN ECOSOC Consultative Status, RECEWAPEC maintains a strategic presence across continents. Our International Administrators serve as the vital link between our National Office in Cameroon and global policy centres.

Our Strategic Move: Empowering Others to Lead

At the heart of RECEWAPEC’s new strategic plan is a transition from a project-based NGO to a Grant-Making Foundation.

Our New Funding Mandate: We are shifting our focus to identify and fund high-impact initiatives that support ageing persons. Our pillars for this transition include:

Capacity Building: Strengthening local associations dedicated to elderly welfare.

Direct Funding: Providing grants to organizations that provide healthcare, social protection, and dignity to the elderly.

Global Reach: While our roots remain in Cameroon, the RECEWAPEC Foundation aims to fund projects across the continent and beyond.

RECEWAPEC’s interventions at global policy centres

We’ve been working with and for old age people throughout Cameroon since 1996 as RECEHWEDEV and from 2001 as RECEWAPEC, helping aged persons, especially the poor and vulnerable to cope with crises and shocks, get favorable laws enacted to improve on their well being, invest in their productivity and health to living an active aging life.
